Mary Landrieu falsely claimed ObamaCare would lower costs

Remember when President Obama and Congressional Democrats got caught in that really big lie about letting people keep their current plans and doctors under ObamaCare? Well, Democrats like Mary Landrieu are getting caught in another lie – this time over promises that ObamaCare would reduce health care costs. Yesterday, Politico reported that Mary Landrieu and other 2014 Democrats are bracing for another round of premium hikes under ObamaCare in September, an inconvenient fall surprise that will further damage her credibility:

2014 DEMOCRATS ARE BRACING FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF PREMIUM INCREASES UNDER OBAMACARE

Democrats Are Bracing For A “September Surprise” When Insurance Rates Are Expected To Go Up Under ObamaCare. “Most state health insurance rates for 2015 are scheduled to be approved by early fall, and most are likely to rise, timing that couldn’t be worse for Democrats already on defense in the midterms … With Democrats looking to hang on to Senate seats in many Republican-leaning states, they’ll be hoping that the final numbers don’t come in anywhere near the 24.6 percent hike that report from the anti-Obamacare Heritage Foundation projected for a family of four in Arkansas, or even the 13.1 percent increase in Alaska or 12.4 percent in Louisiana. So far, although no state has finalized its rate, 21 have posted bids for 2015. Average preliminary premiums went up in all 21…” (Edward-Issac Dovere, “Obamacare's Next Threat: A September Surprise,” Politico, 7/7/14)

MARY LANDRIEU FALSELY SAID OBAMACARE WOULD LOWER COSTS

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA): “I Am Voting For This Bill Because It Achieves The Goals I Laid Out At The Beginning Of This Debate: It Drives Down Costs …”  LANDRIEU: “I had as the Senate considered health care reform. I am voting for this bill because it achieves the goals I laid out at the beginning of this debate: it drives down costs and expands affordable health care choices for millions of families and small businesses in Louisiana and around the nation. Any claim to the contrary, is a pathetic lie meant to derail this bill, a tactic that was all too common during this debate.” (Press Release, Landrieu Outlines Support For Senate Health Care Bill, Sen. Mary Landrieu, 12/22/09)
