Landrieu's desperate Hail Mary

Senator Mary Landrieu hasn’t led a non-partisan poll since January and her campaign for re-election is slipping away.  She has been dogged by controversies over her illegal use of taxpayer funds for campaign travel and living full time at a $2.5 million Capitol Hill mansion. So today she did what desperate campaigns do, and she fired her campaign manager 27 days before the November election. If you’re reporting on the Landrieu campaign’s Hail Mary, please consider the following quote from the Republican National Committee:

“Firing staff won’t distract from the fact Mary Landrieu supports President Obama 97 percent of the time, failed to follow through on her promise to get the Keystone Pipeline built, and has lost touch with Louisiana after 17 years of living in Washington, D.C.  Senator Landrieu can only blame the person she sees in the mirror for her failing campaign.” – Ben Voelkel, RNC spokesman
